UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner's office identified the driver of the Toyota 4Runner as 60-year-old Juan Argueta of Henderson.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The southbound Airport Connector was closed to traffic Thursday morning following a fatal crash involving three vehicles, including one that rolled over, according to Las Vegas police.
According to police, around 5:45 a.m., a Toyota 4Runner was traveling northbound on Paradise Road approaching Russell Road while a Toyota Camry and Ram 1500 were traveling southbound. The crash occurred when the 4Runner went over the center median and entered the southbound lanes, driving in the wrong direction.
The 4Runner crashed into the Camry and Ram 1500 before overturning. All three drivers were taken to Sunrise Hospital's trauma unit.
The driver of the 4Runner succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived. The other two drivers were released from the hospital after being treated for minor injuries, police said.
The road closure started on southbound Paradise Road just before the entrance to the connector. This caused issues for motorists who use that route to access the 215. Traffic using the northbound Airport Connector was diverted to Russell Road once drivers exit the tunnel.
The southbound Airport Connector reopened to traffic around 1 p.m., following a seven-hour closure.
