New Porsche dealership set for Boise Auto Mall
Boise is about to get a new Porsche dealership.
Janis Joplin's friends rejoice.
Porsche Boise filed plans to build a new dealership on the site of a current parking lot on Gratz Drive in the Boise Auto Mall. The new 21,320 square-foot dealership and service center would sit between the Lyle Pearson Acura and Lyle Pearson Jaguar/Land Rover buildings along Gratz. It would replace a smaller existing Porsche building near the Lyle Pearson Mercedes Benz dealership (speaking of Janis Joplin).
"The new Porsche facility features a Generation 5 design, as prototyped by the automotive manufacturer," Axis Design Group wrote in an application letter to the City of Boise. "The proposed building is approximately situated in the center of the subject site, with the main showroom entrance facing the street to the northeast. The primary entrance facade is to feature sweeping horizontal curvilinear bands of composite metal panels along the upper areas, revealing expansive glazed curtainwall panels underneath and below."
Porsche Boise is part of the overall Lyle Pearson Auto Group, which features a collection of high-end and luxury car dealerships. Gee Automotive Group of Spokane purchased the Pearson dealerships in 2020 after more than 50 years of local ownership, as BoiseDev reported at the time.
The new Porsche dealership will seek design review approval from the City of Boise at a hearing on February 8th.
Pearson also applied to convert an empty lot at the end of Gratz near the I-184 Connector for additional car storage. That application was approved by the city late last year.
