EDA models for 2mm pitch high

Dec 08, 2023Dec 08, 2023

Nicomatic has contracted SnapEDA to provide CAD models for two-row versions of Nicomatic's CMM 220 and 320 micro connector series – a total of over eight million variants.

"Options range from 4 to 60 for signal contacts and 4 to 54 for coaxial or power contacts with locking or racking fixings," according to SnapEDA. "To generate the parts, engineers need to go to Nicomatic's micro connector configurator for the 220 or 320 series and choose the part configuration of their preference. Once done, they can click on the SnapEDA website button on the PCB footprint section to generate the CAD model and download it instantly."

The models follow IPC-7351B and the internal standards of both companies. SnapEDA said: "To give engineers transparency into manufacturability, they can view an automated quality report after the model has been generated."

Download is free, in PCB design formats including Altium, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, KiCad, Autodesk EAGLE and Fusion360, Proteus and PADS.

CMM connectors are 2mm pitch types with one, two (220) or three (320) rows, designed to the electrical and mechanical requirements of MIL-DTL-55302F and BS-9525-F0033.

Operation is across -60 to +260°C and there are signal contacts, power contacts and 11GHz coaxial contacts that can be mixed and matched into the various housings.

Nicomatic claims 20 million CMM variants in total, Electronics Weekly has asked how the 8 million are differentiated within these.
